Tied closely along with our feeling of worthlessness, is the sentiment that, “I’m so insignificant.”
Do we feel deficient compared to other people? Do we feel that they are superior to us because they have a sense of humor that makes people laugh, something that you’re not able to do? That some people are just so smart, and when they give advice, everybody appreciates them, and praises them for their wisdom and intelligent thoughts? It probably makes us feel inferior, because we wanted to be that person, the one who everybody was saying good things about. The one who is the life of the party, who make everybody feel special and loved, because of their charismatic character. These types of people may have caused us to feel so worthless in comparison, that we are so useless and valueless because we lack those characteristics. And we feel discouraged to say or do anything, because in comparison to them, we are BIG NOTHINGS…………………..
So we feel these things often times, what do we do?
Let’s start off with a more proper understanding of truth and reality. We want to be believe in reality, not in negative assumptions and theories that we concluded as children and adolescents. What may this correct belief be?
Nobody is significant. That’s right. NOBODY. Every person, no matter how suave, smart, strong, or attractive they are, is completely significant. Those amazing things they have has ZERO & ZILCH to do with who they are as people. Every single human being is helpless, and in need of guidance, and support, and blessings.
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَنتُمُ الْفُقَرَاء إِلَى اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ
Oh Mankind! All of you are in completely in need of Allah. And Allah is free of need, worthy of all praise. 35:15
The problem is, we believe that they are somehow superior to us because they possess better qualities than we have, or qualities we wish we had. This belief is nonsense and false, and we have to take what Allah says and believe in that. As I mentioned in “It’s All About Me” , Humans take no credit for any blessing or ability that they possess. It was all gifted to them by Allah. And the role of humans is to simply recognize that fact; that all the good in their life was a result of the amazing generosity of Allah t’ala. And they’re only response should be to express gratitude to their Lord and Master. Because if they don’t, they are only useless, thankless people.
إِنَّا هَدَيْنَاهُ السَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُورً
We indeed showed him (the human) the way, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 76:3
When we see those people that we feel are so amazing, that they have all these great things about them, we need to realize that they were nothing just a few years ago. They were helpless insignificant people. They were weak, clueless children who didn’t know anything about life and the world, and they were dependent on their mothers to drink milk and stand on their own feet! All they could do was to cry to get something they wanted. And it was ONLY ALLAH who gave them each and every good thing that they have with them today.
هَلْ أَتَى عَلَى الْإِنسَانِ حِينٌ مِّنَ الدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُن شَيْئًا مَّذْكُورًا
Do humans remember that there was a time that they were nothing, not even mentioned? 76:1
The issue is, we have not given Allah the significance that He deserves. He is the ONLY ONE who is significant. He is so far above and superior to any lowly human being or creation having any significance whatsoever. It is Allah all along, who we need to recognize as the Only One who is Significant. Anything else besides Him is nothing, temporary, insignificant ,and useless. It is only until Allah decides to give to us as a token of His generosity and favors that we gain honor and respect in this life. Like I mentioned in “Respect isn’t earned from people,” Allah is the only One who you turn to if you are looking for honor and prestige, an honor and prestiege that will not end in your life; an honor that will live on forever; an honor that could be a means for you to gain elite status in Paradise.
May Allah make us people who truthfully cement this belief down to the core of our hearts, so strong that it is unshakeable! Ameen! Say Ameen, and let me hear your comments below.
